I think music in itself is healing. It's an explosive expression of humanity. It's something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music.

I wish Pandora had a feature like this. This is a really great idea, It would be very useful if a person was working out versus trying to go to sleep. The music space has been getting a lot of attention on the web in the past couple months with the IPO of Pandora as well as Facebooks recent announcement to integrate music services into the platform. In regards to picking the music, would it have the same functionality as Pandora where you can thumb up and thumbdown a song to have it adjust to your mood?
ReplyDeleteVania,
ReplyDeleteI think this is such a great idea! Music is such a big part of my life whether I'm having a great day or an awful day. My mood definitely dictates the type of music I feel like listening too so I know this website would be something I would definitely use.
That being said, this would be an incredible project for whoever you would "hire" to create it. The musical database would have to be quite large but this is definitely possible!
I personally would rather use something like this over Pandora because sometimes I don't know the exact artist style I might want to listen to but I always know how I'm feeling and what I'm in the mood for. The fact that I could create a username and find playlists that I'd already listened to would be the reason I'd keep coming back.
Also great job incorporating social media into the mix. Seeing as they are important in any business idea today, Facebook and Twitter would be an awesome way to promote the site and get the name out.
The only concern I might have is that if the site is "no strings attached" and completely free, how would you generate revenue?
Awesome idea overall!
Definitely a really strong idea. Regardless of the state of mind of anyone looking through music online, this can apply to them since any kind of mood can be searched and located quickly. Especially if the range of music available goes past just mainstream music and includes soundtracks and OSTs people may have never even heard of. Horizons broaden!
ReplyDeleteI just have two questions, one of which is what Sara asked: where would revenue come from? Ads could be placed relative to the mood that is searched (romantic music would get romantic product ads), but it seems like a difficult way to organize it all.
Also, how would the music be classified? Would it be done by the organization directly, the users who listen to it, or both? And how would mislabels be dealt with?
All that aside, definitely an idea worth looking into.
I think this is an awesome concept and idea because it's so much easier to find and relate to a song by how you feel. Sometimes when I listen to radio or my playlist, I'm emotionally not there because "I'm not in the mood for it."
ReplyDeleteMood has a huge impact on how you define and embrace music. If you aren't in the mood for it, whatever you listen to, you won't be able to fully enjoy it. Like when I listen to Z100 sometimes I want to skip it because it just ruins the mood I was in and it's a radio, so I have no control over it.
But your idea allows me to enjoy the type of music by different artists with continuation. I don't have to search for individual music but instead it will show all types of music that I am craving for. Just like you said, I would love to just type in romace or calm or peaceful for music that I can listen to while I do homework. Or maybe because it's a rainy day, I feel gloomy. Therefore I can just type in a specific mood I am in to receive the playlist I want. And by doing this, maybe I will find new artists or type of music that I didn't know about.
Incorporating social media today is always a good idea. I really like the twitter name and how Facebook link will update on top key words and playlists. Like you said, I think this idea will provide the best music playing experience for everyone.
I really like this idea. I feel like this idea of yours speaks to me because i have a hell of a lot of music on my iPhone and i find it difficult to play what i want to hear. Somedays i feel like I'm in the mood for Hip Hop then somedays i feel like I'm in the mood for house. This would really be useful for me
